A Message From The Pastor

As I reflect on this first year serving in leadership at First Presbyterian Church, I am filled with gratitude. It is hard to believe that nearly a year has passed since stepping into this role. In many ways, the year has gone quickly, but it has also been full of meaningful moments, faithful work, and signs of God’s grace among us.

One of the greatest joys has been getting to know the congregation in a deeper way. I have been grateful for the trust, encouragement, and patience that so many have offered along the way. Ministry is always relational, and I have seen again and again how much this church cares for one another, for the community, and for the witness of Christ in Sidney. This past year has included several accomplishments worth celebrating. We have continued to worship together faithfully, care for one another, and support and even welcome back meaningful ministries. We have welcomed new members, celebrated confirmation, walked through Holy Week and Easter, Advent & Christmas together, and celebrated the 200th anniversary of this congregation. That milestone reminds us that we are part of a much larger story. We have inherited a faithful witness, and now we are called to carry that witness forward.

There have also been challenges. Like many churches, we continue to navigate questions about the future: how to grow, how to engage younger families, how to steward our building and resources, and how to remain faithful in a changing world. At times, the work can feel heavy, but I have also been encouraged by the faithfulness of our elders, deacons, staff, volunteers, and members who continue to serve with hope and dedication.

For the rest of the year, my hope is that we continue building on the good work already happening. I look forward to strengthening our ministries, deepening our worship life, and listening together for where God is leading us next. My prayer is that First Presbyterian Church will continue to be a place where people encounter the grace of Jesus Christ, find belonging in Christian community, and are sent out to love and serve our neighbors.

Thank you for the privilege of serving alongside you. I am grateful for this congregation, for its history, and for the future God is still unfolding among us.

Soli Deo Gloria.
