What We Believe
God’s Grace Comes FirstWe believe that the Christian life begins not with what we do for God, but with what God has done for us in Jesus Christ. Before we can seek God, God has already sought us. Before we can love God, God has already loved us. We are saved by grace through faith, not by our own goodness, but by the mercy of God made known in Christ.
Jesus Christ Is LordAt the center of our faith is Jesus Christ, fully God and fully human, our Savior and Lord. Through his life, death, and resurrection, Christ has defeated sin and death and opened the way to new life. We trust in him, follow him, and seek to make him known in all we do.
The Bible Is God’s WordWe believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the unique and authoritative witness to Jesus Christ. Through the Bible, God speaks to the church, forms our faith, corrects our sin, comforts our hearts, and guides our lives. We seek to read Scripture faithfully, prayerfully, and with reverence.
Rooted in the Reformed TraditionAs a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), we are deeply rooted in the Reformed tradition. We believe in the sovereignty of God, the authority of Scripture, salvation by grace through faith, and the call to live all of life for the glory of God. Our faith is shaped by the wisdom of the historic church and the confessions of the Presbyterian tradition.
Worship Is at the Heart of Our LifeWe gather each Lord’s Day to worship the Triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. In worship, we hear God’s Word, lift our prayers, sing our faith, confess our sins, receive God’s grace, and are sent into the world to serve. Our worship is traditional, reverent, and centered on Scripture, prayer, preaching, and the sacraments.
The Sacraments Are Signs of GraceWe celebrate two sacraments: Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. In Baptism, we are marked as belonging to God and welcomed into the covenant community. At the Lord’s Table, we are nourished by Christ’s presence and reminded of his saving grace. These are gifts of God, given to strengthen our faith.
The Church Is a Covenant CommunityWe believe the church is not simply a building or an organization, but the people of God gathered by grace. Together, we seek to encourage one another, bear one another’s burdens, grow in discipleship, and serve our neighbors. We are called to be faithful witnesses to Christ in our community and beyond.
Faith Leads to ServiceBecause we have received grace, we are called to share grace. We believe Christian faith should be lived out in love, mercy, justice, humility, and service. We seek to care for the hungry, welcome the stranger, comfort the grieving, teach the faith, and serve our community in the name of Jesus Christ.
Hope in the ResurrectionWe believe our hope rests in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Because Christ is risen, death does not have the final word. We live with confidence that God is making all things new and that, in life and in death, we belong to God.
