A College Scholarship has been created in memory of First Presbyterian - member Amanda Castle. The funding is from generous donations of those who loved Amanda and want to see her memory live on.
The scholarship will be awarded annually through the First Presbyterian Church of Sidney, Ohio. Eligible recipients of the scholarship include active members of the First Presbyterian Church and/or those active in church programming. The successful applicant must demonstrate a willingness to serve the Lord.
Eligible applicants must be graduating high school seniors or those currently enrolled in college in an undergraduate program as a full-time student. Amanda’s love for children and her desire to teach will be honored by choosing recipients who have chosen education as their major. Funds permitting, a scholarship in the amount of $500.00 will be awarded annually.
Previous recipients of the scholarship would be eligible to apply for the scholarship in succeeding years. Applications can be obtained from the church office or web site. The selected applicant(s) will be notified prior to August 1, of the year the scholarship is awarded. Scholarship awards shall be made directly to the recipient.
In the event that in a given year, no one meets the qualifications for the award who is connected with the First Presbyterian Church, the committee may elect to suspend the award for that year. They may also choose a recipient who fits the requirements for the award, except for being a member or closely associated with First Presbyterian Church. More than one recipient may be awarded during a given year.
Applicants must include two letters of recommendations from non-relatives. Financial need and grade point average will not be considerations. Recipients will be chosen by an established committee. Members of the Castle family may elect to participate in the process.
